James Bailey is an experienced K-12 leader, having served as an elementary and high school principal, an assistant superintendent, superintendent, and turn-around leader in both the public and charter school spaces in Colorado, Wyoming, and Texas. He has also worked as a school improvement consultant and leadership coach opening his firm called the Leading Learners Institute in 2016 (llinst.org). Bailey started LLI to help make research more meaningful and actionable for educators through a specific focus on 1) leadership coaching 2) capacity building through design-based research and improvement science principles 3) social-emotional development of adults and students, and 4) future-oriented strategic planning [see www.llinst.org].

Randy Weiner has worked in education and education technology and consulting
throughout his career. He co-founded and served as the first Chairman of the Board at Urban Montessori Charter School (UMCS) in Oakland, CA—the nation’s first public Montessori, Arts Integration and Design Thinking school. UMCS is nationally recognized for its personalized learning model, winning both NGLC Planning and Launch grants for its middle school model. Randy is also a co-founder and the CEO at BrainQuake, a two-time U.S. Department of Education Small Business Innovation Award winner. A Teach for America alum and father to two daughters, Randy taught for five years in Oakland and Madagascar, and holds two BAs from Middlebury College and an MA in Education from Stanford.
