Latrenda Knighten is a District Elementary Mathematics Instructional Coach in the Office of Curriculum & Instruction and Professional Development for the East Baton Rouge Parish School System in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She has been an educator for more than 30 years, during which she has been a classroom teacher, an elementary science specialist, and an elementary mathematics coach.

Jeff Shih is a professor of mathematics education at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM). He has served on the editorial boards for the Journal for Research in Mathematics Education, Cognition and Instruction, Elementary School Journal, Mathematics Teacher Educator, and Investigations in Mathematics Learning.
